A Song On The End Of The World Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDED AFGHIJK BLMNOPQN RDPDD

On the day the world endsA
A bee circles a cloverB
A fisherman mends a glimmering netC
Happy porpoises jump in the seaD
By the rainspout young sparrows are playingE
And the snake is gold skinned as it should always beD
-
On the day the world endsA
Women walk through the fields under their umbrellasF
A drunkard grows sleepy at the edge of a lawnG
Vegetable peddlers shout in the streetH
And a yellow sailed boat comes nearer the islandI
The voice of a violin lasts in the airJ
And leads into a starry nightK
-
And those who expected lightning and thunderB
Are disappointedL
And those who expected signs and archangels' trumpsM
Do not believe it is happening nowN
As long as the sun and the moon are aboveO
As long as the bumblebee visits a roseP
As long as rosy infants are bornQ
No one believes it is happening nowN
-
Only a white haired old man who would be a prophetR
Yet is not a prophet for he's much too busyD
Repeats while he binds his tomatoesP
No other end of the world will there beD
No other end of the world will there beD
