French Leave Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGFH IJKJ LMLM

No servile little fear shall daunt my willA
This morning I have courage steeled to sayB
I will be lazy conqueringly stillA
I will not lose the hours in toil this dayB
-
The roaring world without careless of soulsC
Shall leave me to my placid dream of restD
My four walls shield me from its shouting ghoulsE
And all its hates have fled my quiet breastD
-
And I will loll here resting wide awakeF
Dead to the world of work the world of loveG
I laze contented just for dreaming's sakeF
With not the slightest urge to think or moveH
-
How tired unto death how tired I wasI
Now for a day I put my burdens byJ
And like a child amidst the meadow grassK
Under the southern sun I languid lieJ
-
And feel the bed about me kindly deepL
My strength ooze gently from my hollow bonesM
My worried brain drift aimlessly to sleepL
Like softening to a song of tuneful tonesM
