You And I Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFG HIJIKDLD MNONPPPP HJJJKPCP CQKQRSJS PSTSHUPUThey say the eagle is a bird | A |
That sees some splendid sights | B |
When he soars high into the sky | C |
Upon his dizzy flights | B |
He sees the ground for miles around | D |
Our house and Billy Johnson's | E |
But we can not be Eagles for | F |
That would of course be nonsense | G |
- | |
But you and I some summer day | H |
Providing we're allowed | I |
Will go up in an aeroplane | J |
And sail right through a cloud | I |
But if they say we may not go | K |
We'll stay upon the ground | D |
With other things that have no wings | L |
And watch them walk around | D |
- | |
They say the bottom of the sea | M |
Is beautiful to view | N |
They say the fish whene'er they wish | O |
Can sail and see 'it too | N |
The shining pearls the coral curls | P |
The sharks the squids the schnappers | P |
And fish with fins though not in tins | P |
And fish with funny flappers | P |
- | |
But you and I some sunny day | H |
When weather's in condition | J |
Will go there in a submarine | J |
Providing we've permission | J |
But if they say we may not go | K |
We must respect their wishes | P |
And you and I will just keep dry | C |
Because we are not fishes | P |
- | |
They say to fly so very high | C |
Is not exactly pleasant | Q |
They say to go deep down below | K |
Is not quite safe at present | Q |
But you and I don't care for that | R |
And if there's time for spending | S |
When work is done we'll have our fun | J |
By simply just pretending | S |
- | |
The earth is quite a jolly place | P |
And we don't care for flying | S |
And things that creep down in the deep | T |
Are sometimes rather trying | S |
So if they'll grant a holiday | H |
Or even only half | U |
We'll lie upon some grassy place | P |
And think of things and laugh | U |
