Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGFGThe ways of the learned to me are 'Greek ' | A |
And professors and such amaze me | B |
I know without trying the thing they seek | C |
Tho' I doubt if for that they'll praise me | B |

They want to discover why whales are big | D |
So they sail at the risk of sinking | E |
In ships with elaborate technical rig | D |
When the facts can be learned by thinking | E |

I can simply account for the size of a whale | F |
And it doesn't seem much of a riddle | G |
It's because he's so long from the nose to the tail | F |
And in measurement round the middle | G |
