| In the crease or at the wicket | C |
| Just exactly what was cricket | C |
| And of course I mean to say we have our pride | B |
| The great old game was as it were invented | A |
| On the playing fields of Eton and all that | D |
| And to try to steal our thunder | E |
| When you think we've made a blunder | E |
| Why dear old bean that's talking thro' the hat | D |

| With us back in the dear old top hat days | F |
| And the gentlemen who played it | G |

| A top hole game for sportsmen hence the phrase | F |
| So hang it all If something 'isn't cricket' | G |

| To apply our own pet shibboleth to us | J |
| There's the code you know our code we would remind you | K |
| We made it for ourselves and mean to stick it | G |
| And to try to knock us flat | G |
| With a boomerang like that | G |
| By gad It isn't done It isn't cricket | G |
