Warrnambool Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD EEFGHHHH IIJJKKLM NNOOHHPP

A civic lady peerly proudA
Of excellences that here crowdA
About her trim well ordered streetsB
The visitor she warmly greetsB
E'er with a bland and kindly smileC
Full conscious of her grace the whileC
A grace that comes of duty doneD
Thro' long years in her grateful sunD
-
Fit cause for pride lies in her pastE
Her solid buildings reared to lastE
And all her old world atmosphereF
Hinting at Holland quaintly hereG
With windmills turning in the breezeH
Wafted from her historic seasH
That knew the sails of venturersH
Long ere this pleasant land was hersH
-
The stone man's footprints graved in stoneI
About her ancient rocks are knownI
Here too the Spaniard 'neath her waveJ
Found with his stately ship a graveJ
And thus thro' hist'ry can she showK
How men may wax and men may growK
By wisely planned developmentL
To an estate of proud contentM
-
So 'mid her rich lands of the southN
Cast from a burning mountain's mouthN
She grows her fruits and lives her lifeO
Remote from hectic city strifeO
And who shall come to her wide seaH
Seeking her hospitalityH
In this contented dame shall findP
A gracious lady calm and kindP
