Vale Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDF GHGHIJI

So ends a life lived to the full alwayA
Thro' peace thro' war thro' honored peace againB
From youth unto the closing of his dayC
Lived simply Yet a giant among menB
Today steals quietly to seek his restD
As quietly he lived yet none his peerE
In service of his land he gave his bestD
And in simplicity found greatness hereF
-
Seeking no honour but his country's thanksG
No man among us won a place more highH
Comrade and leader where the myriad ranksG
Stand now with bended heads as John goes byH
Ever a man a soldier and a friendI
In every heart some echo of the knellJ
That marks his passing throbs for this great endI
Saying in requiem 'Pass John all is well '-
