There's a good time coming in the golden by and byB
And I wish oh how I wish that it would comeC
There's a wise day dawning by the portents in the skyB
To usher in the glad milleniumC
When heaven sent technocracy displaces our democracyD
Goodbye to man's hypocrisy and greedE
But I wonder oh I wonder if we'll all be planted underF
Ere the good time gladdens human needE
-
There's a good time coming but the road we have to goG
Is strewn with all the wreckage of the pastH
And there's quite a lot of salvage ere we end this worldly woeG
And gain the golden terminus at lastH
The wonders of machinery that dominates our sceneryD
Have left the blundering ancients far behindI
But I wonder oh I wonder if we haven't made a blunderF
In neglecting that machine the human mindI
-
There's a good time coming but the echo answers 'When '-
And I wish oh I wish that I could sayJ
Two thousand years have scarce sufficed to change the minds of menK
We may hardly hope to change them in a dayJ
I would not cry calamity when others aim at amnityJ
And hope within me ever conquered fearL
But I wonder oh I wonder when the clouds are torn asunderF
If you and I are likely to be hereM
