There's a good time coming in the golden by and by | B |
And I wish oh how I wish that it would come | C |
There's a wise day dawning by the portents in the sky | B |
To usher in the glad millenium | C |
When heaven sent technocracy displaces our democracy | D |
Goodbye to man's hypocrisy and greed | E |
But I wonder oh I wonder if we'll all be planted under | F |
Ere the good time gladdens human need | E |
- | |
There's a good time coming but the road we have to go | G |
Is strewn with all the wreckage of the past | H |
And there's quite a lot of salvage ere we end this worldly woe | G |
And gain the golden terminus at last | H |
The wonders of machinery that dominates our scenery | D |
Have left the blundering ancients far behind | I |
But I wonder oh I wonder if we haven't made a blunder | F |
In neglecting that machine the human mind | I |
- | |
There's a good time coming but the echo answers 'When ' | - |
And I wish oh I wish that I could say | J |
Two thousand years have scarce sufficed to change the minds of men | K |
We may hardly hope to change them in a day | J |
I would not cry calamity when others aim at amnity | J |
And hope within me ever conquered fear | L |
But I wonder oh I wonder when the clouds are torn asunder | F |
If you and I are likely to be here | M |
