The Way Out Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCADDE AFAFBBAGG HBHBHHAAAA AAAAAAAAA

'There must be some way out ' they sayA
'There must be some way outB
We've fallen on an evil dayA
That we no longer doubtB
But surely there's some magic rareC
To banish this dull load of careC
And strengthen out defencesA
We'll find it yet if we but lookD
But this is sure By hook or crookD
We won't cut down expenses 'E
-
How like a harried housewife theseA
Wild politicians seemF
'Oh George ' she cries 'Don't scold so pleaseA
You must find some shrewd schemeF
There surely must be some way outB
What of those deals you talked aboutB
Are all your plans pretencesA
I want a frock I want a hatG
My parties Bridge debts What of thatG
I can't cut down expenses '-
-
But George he knows as well we knowH
There is but one way outB
When incomes fall we must go slowH
Stern facts no man may floutB
And well we know as George must knowH
A pound note just so far will goH
And all men in their sensesA
Well realise there's but one wayA
When we fall on an evil dayA
We've got to cut expensesA
-
The magic stone philosophersA
Sought in the olden yearsA
May by no chance be ours or hersA
For all our pleas and tearsA
The only magic's common senseA
Despite vague schemes and sly pretenceA
Wrangles and differencesA
When economic stress appearsA
One warning echoes down the yearsA
'Go slow and cut expenses '-
