The Little People Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHAH EIE BJKJLMJM FNONAPQP RSASTFFF

'Twas a long bush night and the old hut lightA
Shone out thro' the open doorB
To flood the knees of the great bush treesC
And the scrub that grew beforeB
And as I dreamed where the firelight gleamedD
And watched the long hours lagE
Came there to my shack Kilkenny JackF
With his fiddle in its green baize bagE
-
So I bade him sit and rest a bitG
And we yarned of this and thatH
Pipes well alight we watched the nightA
As he on his old swag satH
'Lonesome indade this life we lade '-
Said he 'Why let time dragE
For me an' you ' And he stooped and drewI
His fiddle from its green baize bagE
-
Then the scrub before the old hut doorB
Was people suddenlyJ
With elfin' folk who rose and spokeK
Strange mystic things to meJ
Then into the glare from the bracken thereL
The Little People creptM
And suddenly by fern and treeJ
The fairies danced and leaptM
-
Kilkenny Jack he leant him backF
And his bow went to and froN
And there outside the banshees criedO
In mournful tones and lowN
And where the light stabbed thro' the nightA
To cast dark shades aboutP
In many a place I saw the faceQ
Of a leprechaun peep outP
-
Then the music stopped and Jack he droppedR
His fiddle and was doneS
And into the night in sudden frightA
I saw the small folk runS
Then off he went his small form bentT
'Neath his old familiar swagF
Upon his back Kilkenny JackF
With his fiddle in its green baize bagF
