They robs a man of privacy | C |
An' motor cars of rest | D |

Since men have took to wings | F |
An' life grows narrer jist because | G |
Of plans an' cars an' things | F |
For the planes have pinched me privit skies | H |
An' the cars have grabbed me earth | I |
An' all the news by wireless flies | H |
So what's sundownin' worth | I |

Time was when I could sit me down | J |
Where man had left no sign | K |
An' earth an' sky for miles aroun' | K |
For that one hour was mine | K |
And I could sit an' think me thorts | H |
An' watch the sun go west | D |
Without no crazy ingine's snorts | H |
To break into me rest | D |

And as the afternoon grew late | L |
I'd seek the haunts of men | K |
An' at some lonely homestead gate | L |
I'd have sure welcome then | K |
An' tucker bags were gladly filled | M |
And rest found for my back | N |
In change for bits of news I spilled | M |
And gossip of the track | N |

But now that wireless spreads its lies | H |
From this and other lands | H |
They look on me with hard cold eyes | H |
An' give with grudgin' hands | H |
It's them that has to give me news | H |
And when I seek some wide | O |
Once silent scene planes spoil me views | H |
An' cars honk me aside | O |
