The Hundredth Year Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDECECAC FGFGHBHDAC IJIJKCKCAC LCLCMCMCCC

Not that I'd quarrel with the wayA
They celebrates their hundredth yearB
In town said old Pete ParradayC
But that don't suit us bush blokes hereD
So let bells ring and whistles blareE
And fill the town with mighty soundC
Let motor noises tear the airE
An' bonfires light the hills aroundC
When I'm five score I want some sayA
In things said old Peter ParradayC
-
I've lived me life here in the bushF
Said Pete since I was but a boyG
An' all this city noise an' pushF
Ain't my idea of showin' joyG
Me ears ain't tooned to sich like noiseH
And fire is like to wake our fearB
Them ain't the things that we enjoysH
When celebratin' birthdays hereD
So if I live so long I prayA
For peace said old Peter ParradayC
-
A hundred year's a long long spellI
To hang about this mad ole earthJ
And when man nears his century wellI
He don't crave much of noisy mirthJ
Not for himself with life near runK
Its length such comes for others yetC
Not for himself for he is doneK
With all life's hectic fuss an' fretC
So let me have my foolish wayA
In this said old Pete ParradayC
-
I ask but this an' nothin' moreL
When comes my hundredth natal dayC
Let me sit here beside my doorL
And dream said old Pete ParradayC
While bush birds sing the songs I knowM
And bush sounds that I love the bestC
Wake memories of the long agoM
Let me sit here a while and restC
Aye rest and sleep and who shall sayC
Sleep sound said old Pete ParradayC
