The Fowl Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAABC DEFDDEE CGCCCGG

A noble lesson this should teachA
Dear children unto youB
If other people's goods you reachA
Of rectitude 'twill be a breachA
Or parsons will your virtues preachA
According to the point of viewB
Or to the kind of folks you 'do'C
-
-
You steal a chicken off a fenceD
With wrath the pious shakeE
Although you say with eloquenceF
The owner used it ill and henceD
You kindly sought to recompenseD
The bird for troubles past and makeE
It happier for Heaven's sakeE
-
-
But if you are a statesman grandC
And ships and armies raiseG
To steel some feeble niggers' landC
To make its folks a Christian bandC
To take their moral weal in handC
The Empire echoes with your praiseG
And churches bless you all your daysG
