The Expert Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGDGD HIHIJDJD KLKLMD DBill Oh him Well he's taken a knock | A |
Real sad when I spoke to him last | B |
Sufferin' like from a nasty shock | A |
Just drivin' a wee bit fast | B |
Round a corner no chance to halt | C |
Skittles a kid on the road | D |
An' they're tellin' him now it's all his fault | C |
'Case he didn't observe the Code | D |
- | |
Code Wot Code Why Bill can drive | E |
An' they're tellin' him now he was rash | F |
It's his skill at the wheel kept him alive | E |
And out of many a smash | F |
And now this luck Yes the youngster died | G |
But the evidence plainly showed | D |
That Bill was fair on the proper side | G |
What more could he do with the Code | D |
- | |
Why I've seen Bill drive on just two wheels | H |
Miss trees by a coat of paint | I |
An' now it's rotten the way he feels | H |
Broke up when they made complaint | I |
Callin' him careless Careless Him | J |
Why I've seen him motor a load | D |
At eighty an hour an' the light all dim | J |
He didn't learn that from a Code | D |
- | |
But there you are One accident more | K |
One more kid chancin' to roam | L |
Knocked stiff in sight of his own house door | K |
One more grief stricken home | L |
An' poor Bill eyes still fixed ahead | M |
On that small still form by the road | D |
Sayin' over an' over 'He's dead He's dead ' | - |
Well Maybe there is good in a Code | D |
