The Elusive New Zoo Gnu Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAA A AAAAAAAAA

They had a new gnu at the ZooA
And nobody knewA
Tho' the keeper they say had a clueA
And that's probably trueA
Since he knew a new gnu was dueA
And well he knew tooA
That the mother would hide it from viewA
As a natural gnuA
Will doA
-
For the instinct innate in the gnuA
Known only to fewA
Is to hide a new gnu lest it rueA
What ill doers doA
Why should nature we wonder imbueA
A beast like a gnuA
With such caution This fact hithertoA
Few knew to be trueA
Did youA
-
But they've found it at last at rhe ZooA
Such a shy little gnuA
White of tail and the coat that it grewA
Of indefinite hueA
And now I suppose a long queueA
Will be waiting to viewA
This nice little new Zoo gnuA
Such sights ever drewA
Quite a crewA
-
But who knew the new gnu at the ZooA
For the first day or twoA
Who guessed where 'twas hidden and whoA
As new rumors flewA
Ever thought ever dreamed ever drewA
Some vague hint or grewA
Suspicious Where was he Who knewA
Not the crane not the white cockatooA
Who ejaculates 'How do you do '-
Not the apes all emblazoned in blueA
Not the owl with his dreary 'Too woo '-
Nor tapir nor tiger who slewA
His prey 'mid the ginat bambooA
Once back of Bengal in KoolooA
Not elephant not kangarooA
None knew none knewA
Not aman not a beast in the ZooA
From its hub to its furthrest purlieuA
But the new gnu knewA
Too trueA
