The Blue Kingfisher Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABACAD DEDEAFAF AGAEAHAH IEIEJEJE

Where the little river gleamingA
Thro' its shadows green and coolB
Broadens to the quiet dreamingA
Of a little shady poolB
There an azure jewel burningA
O'er the waters you may spyC
Never moving never turningA
'Tis the silent fisherD
-
Head aloft above the riverD
With an apathetic airE
Not the smallest quirk nor quiverD
Warns you of my presence thereE
Mayhap you will thnk me sleepingA
Dreaming summer days awayF
Till you mark a keen eye peepingA
Where the tell tale ripples playF
-
Now a dive a sudden dartingA
Now a flash of gold and blueG
And the placid waters partingA
Let my gleaming body thro'E
Then long ere the ripples spreadingA
Circle to the pool's green lipH
Back to safety I am headingA
And the kill is in my gripH
-
So I haunt the cool dark placesI
By the river from that hourE
When the dawn's bright finger tracesI
Fairy lights about my bowerE
Till the western hilltops reddenJ
Fade and vanish I am thereE
And the far skies growing leadenJ
Bid me seek my secret lairE
