Summer Sanctuary Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFEGE HIH ECE

Not upon the crowded beachesA
Where the sun beats fierce and hotB
Not upon the river reachesA
In a shady silvan spotB
But in some deep mountain valleyC
'Mid the sassafras and fernD
Here's the place where I would dallyC
When the suns of Summer burnD
-
Here the sifted sunlight dapplingE
Carpets with translucent greenF
Flecks and flirts on fern and saplingE
Where the cold stream peeps betweenF
'Here ' you muse 'since time's beginningE
Foot of man has never knownG
Mine the joy first to be winningE
All this beauty for my own '-
-
'Here ' you muse 'is safe seclusionH
Known alone to bee and birdI
From the rude unsought intrusionH
Of the common human herd '-
Then a lipstick grossly gleamingE
And a half smoked fag you seeC
And you waken from your dreamingE
As a shrill voice yells 'Coo ee '-
