Redivivus Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFF GHGHII JKJKFF LMNMOO

To day I took old rhymes that I had writtenA
And read them through each one unto the endB
When with a swift nostalgia was I smittenA
As with sad memories of some old friendB
Some happy wayward man I used to knowC
Long since Alas And by the way heigh hoC
-
All his it seemed these sudden cheerful spasmsD
Of humor poured from an untroubled mindE
These old ambitions old enthusiasmsD
When all the world seemed true and men most kindE
When roseate skies were never tinged with greyF
Ah woe And so to speak alack a dayF
-
All his these views so unsophisticatedG
These thoughts so innocent and yet so wiseH
Such minds as mine have never contemplatedG
A world so free of guile so free of liesH
A world of woe and wickedness so freeI
Of misery And as it were ah meI
-
Not mine this intricate yet careless weavingJ
Of joyous rhymes Not mine this happy twistK
Surely not mine 'Tis far beyond believingJ
Such songs come from some youthful optimistK
Who gaily danced along life's primrose wayF
And yet Well once again alack a dayF
-
Yet they are mine these merry lilting phrasesL
Never again shall I pen such sweet laysM
Never again shall I But why the blazesN
Shouldn't I Odds fish and spare me daysM
Why shouldn't I The time is surely ripeO
For verses far surpassing this old tripeO
