Poets Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD AAEEFFGG AAHHIJKK AALLMMNN

Each poet that I know he saidA
Has something funny in his headA
Some wandering growth or queer diseaseB
That gives to him strange uneaseB
If such a thing he hasn't gotC
What makes him write his silly rotC
All poets' brains so I have foundD
Go like the music round and roundD
-
Why they are suffered e'er to treadA
This sane man's earth seems strange he saidA
I've never met a poet yetE
A rhymster I have never metE
Who could talk sense like any manF
Like I or even you say canF
They make me sick The time seems ripeG
To clean them up and all their tripeG
-
And yet he stopped and felt his headA
I met a poet once he saidA
Who when I said he made me sickH
Hit me a punch like a mule's kickH
That only goes to prove againI
The theory that I maintainJ
A man who can't gauge that crazy bunchK
No poet ought to pack a punchK
-
Of all the poetry I've readA
I've never yet seen one he saidA
That couldn't be far as it goesL
Much better written out in proseL
It's what we eat I often thinkM
Or yet more likely what they drinkM
Aw poets All the tribe by heckN
Give me a swift pain in the neckN
