Perpetual Motion Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDED BFBFBGBG HDHDIBIB BIBIBJBJ

What said the poet should we careA
For all this mad world's phantasiesB
For rumours rife upon the airA
Of terrors looming overseasB
If so the soul were plagued alwayC
With far fetched grieving what of mirthD
For somewhere sorror broods all dayE
Yet laughter too inhabits earthD
-
For the sun shines and the grass growsB
And the ferns nod above the streamF
That down this placid valley flowsB
Then let us rest a while and dreamF
For the grass grows as the sun shinesB
And the stream flows and sings a songG
To chide the sad heart that repinesB
Ah summer summer linger longG
-
What I gave answer badgers meH
Are not the tragedies of earthD
Despite your gay philosophyH
Of seeking joy and claiming mirthD
For boon companions as you goI
Oft times these very joys oppressB
And suns that shine and streams that flowI
May be a source of wearinessB
-
For the grass grows and the sun gleamsB
To sear the grass and where they flowI
I must bring water from the streamsB
To make the blinking grass to growI
And the sun gleams and the grass growsB
Indeed I know it well enoughJ
For as it springs where water flowsB
I've got to cut the blasted stuffJ
