'me, A Sinner' Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHAH AFAFCDCD

Should it occasion much surpriseA
That criminals should deal in blameB
As all of us and recogniseA
The full depth of another's shameB
The burglar blames the bigamistC
As something partially insaneD
And Bluebeards equally insistC
That burglars are a sinful baneD
-
And getting further up the scaleE
To normal men like you and IF
The rule is never known to failE
While egotism throned on highF
Sets cunning traps for you and meG
Blind with the illusion of our worthH
To ape the smirking PhariseeA
And see sin stalking o'er the earthH
-
In a community of saintsA
Where all sins save fault finding dieF
One still might look for grave complaintsA
Concerning haloes worn awryF
But as this sinful earth is trodC
He who of Jezebel or CainD
Says 'There but for the grace of GodC
Go I ' is the most nearly saneD
