When we view the older nations | A |
Gone completely up the pole | C |

As others quite bereft | E |
Of reason Though our case is sad | D |
We've sparks of gumption left | E |
For while we have the art to see | F |
From this our island raft | G |
How mad the other nations be | F |
That sail the economic sea | F |
We're not completely daft | G |

In regard to hops and butter | H |
Wheat and sugar things like these | I |
Our insanity is utter | H |
As evinced by subsidies | I |
In regard to other matters | J |
As events have proved today | K |
We're not quite as mad as haters | J |
Or not so far anyway | K |

And tho' our land's a troubled land | L |
But few of us are found | M |
Making insane attempts to stand | L |
'With ears upon the ground ' | - |
Contortionists might very well | N |
Attempt it without fear | O |
But it must come of stuff they sell | N |
When Breweries as judges tell | N |
Are standing on their ears | P |
