| I'd like to call an interlude | A |
| In our remarkable array | B |
| Of leading statesmen of the day | B |
| And introduce to you forthwith | C |
| That great economist Ksmith | C |
| - | |
| Not as you might suppose a myth | C |
| But very real is Ksmith | C |
| For daily in the morning train | D |
| I'm privileged to gauge his brain | D |
| One glance inside his morning sheet | E |
| And he has grasped it all complete | E |

| He lays it down and then in wrath | C |
| To patient travellers he holds forth | C |
| No question that the times involve | F |
| No problem is there he can't solve | F |
| One moment's thought and quick as light | G |
| Ksmith can put the country right | G |

| Surely a statesman's wasted here | H |
| And I suggest in nervous fear | I |
| That we might move to elevate | J |
| Ksmith on high to guide the State | J |
| Then we'd be saved And I might see | K |
| Less of Ksmith That would suit me | K |
