Illuminations Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCE FDFDGHG

Smith is a loyalist good and trueA
And a lad of the 'whole hog' classB
And yesterday when he went to viewA
The Royal procession passB
He'd flags in his buttonhole flags in his hatC
Flags all gaudy and gayD
And he splintered the welkin from where he satC
With many a loud 'Hooray 'E
-
Last night when the town was a blaze of lightF
Smith was still on his wayD
And I saw him pass thro' the brilliant nightF
Gaudy vociferous gayD
He was still in the fashion and going strongG
And I gather he'd been to supH
For he chortled a song as he went alongG
Thoroughly well 'lit up '-
