Hope Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDB EEFGGF HHBIIB AABJJB

When we went singing down the roadA
In days when want was not a goadA
Dull care behind us flingingB
No step we stayed no joy we missedC
To hearken to the pessimistD
But gaily went on singingB
-
-
We'd faith in this great country thenE
We'd hope in her great stalwart menE
Who built a worthy nationF
Hope Hope was ever in our heartsG
For we seemed cast for Builders' partsG
And there was our salvationF
-
-
But what has changed our outlook nowH
With weary eyes and furrowed browH
The uphill road we're facingB
But why This land is still aflameI
With promise of great hope and fameI
Must age be youth disgracingB
-
Oh let's go singing up the roadA
Although we bear a heavy loadA
What good is grieving bringingB
Still just beneath this happy groundJ
Is wondrous fortune to be foundJ
So let us go on singingB
