Her Majesty The Rose Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDBE FGHHCCBB IIJJKKBB LLMMHHBB

Here in my garden at the long day's closeA
I sing again her Majesty the RoseB
The Rose who can with magic most completeC
Bring worshippers again about her feetC
Forsaking other loves who thro' the yearD
Had won them by sheer beauty shining clearD
Now where the Queen beside the trellis growsB
Courtiers acclaim 'Her Majesty the Rose 'E
-
The Rhododendron by her side appearsF
With all that magic quality of tearsG
Patrician truly yet still lacking sheH
That touch of rare imperial majestyH
Viola violet worship at her feetC
Proudly the flaunting poppy would competeC
Yet fails for all her striving to discloseB
The grace that guards her Majesty the RoseB
-
Oh we have walked 'mid many lovely thingsI
In lovely gardens walked where Lilac swingsI
Her jewelled censers wreathed in wondrous scentJ
Where Gladiolus giving great contentJ
Holds up her prideful head to so outshineK
The meeker charm of Phlox and ColumbineK
And yet how soon how swift their threldom goesB
When once we greet her Majesty the RoseB
-
City of Roses herein lies your wealthL
This beauty stealing in almost by stealthL
As garden after garden springs from earthM
To bless the gardener with fresh beauty's birthM
A gift most grand a miracle to seeH
Of rich content and meet prosperityH
Wealth dwells in beauty as each liegeman knowsB
Who bows before her Majesty the RoseB
