The heathen's not efficientA
He sits down in the sunB
And doesn't care a tuppn'y dumpC
When the day's work's begunB
He works to eat and eats to liveD
All day he'll dance and singE
And if you mention overtimeF
He laughs like anythingE
-
-
But we are most efficientA
And goodness Look at usG
Our nights are filled with restless dreamsH
Our days with fret and fussG
And we can have depressionsI
And modern things like thatJ
And monoplanes and motor carsK
And trousers and a hatJ
-
-
The heathen's not efficientA
He does not value goldL
And when we'd teach him of its worthM
He simply won't be toldL
He'll hang gold coins about his neckN
For foolish ornamentA
While half a bread fruit or a hamO
Bring him complete contentP
-
Oh we are most efficientA
We'd pile up heaps of goldL
And leave it to ungrateful heirsQ
When we descend to mouldL
But the heathen's not efficientA
He is lazy free unkemptR
And from the highly civilizedS
Earns nothing but contemptR
