George Jones Reflects Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCCE FGHHGIGIIG DGDG JKL FGMMGNLNNL

It's up an' down as me father saidA
An' his as went before himB
Good days could never turn his headA
Nor the worst of seasons floor himB
Said old george Jones I've heard him sayC
Full many a time an' oftenD
'The man who knows no evil dayC
Ain't toughened so he can out stayC
Good times in which men soften 'E
-
See saw 'Tis the older lawF
That's ruled the world since AdamG
If men ain't sipped the bitter cupH
How can the good days cheer 'em upH
They never know they had 'emG
So by an' large I'm sorter gladI
I've had a chance to share 'emG
These long lean years we've lately hadI
Now good years come we've got the badI
With which we can compare 'emG
-
I've heard men say the land is doneD
Because the hard times fool 'emG
Poor simple loons they ain't begunD
To know the laws wot rule 'emG
'Men ain't learned yet to live on air '-
I've hard my ole dad chuckleJ
'Stick to the land All wealth lies whereK
Earth bids all men to seek it e'erL
When life gets near the knuckle '-
-
See saw 'Tis the olden lawF
An' laws help them as learned 'emG
An' us ole stagers wot held fastM
To earth now clear days down at lastM
Why praise the Lord we've earned 'emG
Hard earned said old George Jones most waysN
High prized New loads is lighterL
Us who held fast can well spare praiseN
Aye even for then strengthenin' daysN
That makes these good days brighterL
