'I wish't yeh menat it Bill ' Oh 'ow me 'eartA
Went out to 'er that evnin' on the beachB
I knew she weren't no ordinary tartA
My little peachB
-
To 'ear 'er voice Its gentle sorter toneC
Like soft dream music of some Dago bandA
An' me all out an' 'oldin' in me ownC
'Er little 'andA
An' 'ow she blushed O strike it was divineD
The way she raised 'er shinin' eyes to mineD
-
'Er eyes Soft in the moon such BOSHTER eyesE
An' when they sight a bloke O spare me daysF
'E goes all loose inside such glamour liesE
In 'er sweet gazeF
It makes 'im all ashamed uv wot 'e's beenG
To look inter the eyes of my DoreenH
-
The wet sands glistened an' the gleamin' moonI
Shone yeller on the sea all streakin' downJ
A band was playin' some soft dreamy choonI
An' up the townJ
We 'eard the distant tram cars whir an' clashK
An' there I told Per 'ow I'd done me dashK
-
'I wish't yeh meant it ' 'Struth And did I fairL
A bloke 'ud be a dawg to kid a skirtA
Like her An' me well knowin' she was squareL
It 'ud be dirtA
'E'd be no man to point wiv her an' kidA
I meant it honest an' she knoo I didA
-
She knoo I've done me block in on her straightA
A cove 'as got to think some time in lifeM
An' get some decent tart ere it's too lateA
To be 'is wifeM
But Gawd 'Oo would 'a' thort it could 'a' beenG
My luck to strike the likes of Per DoreenH
-
Aw I can stand their chuckin' off I canN
It's 'ard an' I'd delight to take 'em onO
The dawgs But it gets that way wiv a manN
When 'e's fair goneP
She'll sight no stoush an' so I have to takeQ
Their mag an' do a duck fer her sweet sakeQ
-
Fer 'er sweet sake I've gone and chucked it cleanH
The pubs an' schools an' all that leery gameR
Fer when a bloke 'as come to know DoreenH
It ain't the sameR
There's 'igher things she sez for blokes to doA
An' I am 'arf believin' that it's trueA
-
Yes 'igher things that wus the way she spokeS
An' when she looked at me I sorter feltA
That bosker feelin' that comes o'er a blokeS
An' makes 'im meltA
Makes 'im all 'ot to maul 'er an' to shoveT
'Is arms about'er Bli'me but it's loveT
-
That's wot it is An' when a man 'as grownC
Like that 'e gets a sorter yearn insideA
To be a little 'ero on 'is ownC
An' see the prideA
Glow in the eyes of 'er 'e calls 'is queenH
An' 'ear 'er say 'e is a shine champeenH
-
'I wish't yeh meant it ' I can 'ear 'er yetA
My bit o' fluff The moon was shinin' brightA
Turnin' the waves all yeller where it setA
A bonzer nightA
The sparklin' sea all sorter gold an' greenH
An' on the pier the band O 'Ell DoreenH
