Dogs Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCA DE FFGGHH II JJKKLL MM FFNNOO PP

I've never met a man who hated dogsA
One meets with all sorts as through life he jogsA
The mean ones and the vain ones and the rashB
The foolish fellows who splash up the cashB
The brisk 'live wires ' the dull the sodden logsC
But I have ne'er met one who hated dogsA
-
-
I think I'm fortunate in this somehowD
For if we ever met there'd be a rowE
-
-
Mayhap I'm prejudiced mayhap I'm wiseF
To judge a fresh acquaintance by his eyesF
But show me one who has a dogs' straight lookG
And I can read that fellow like a bookG
I know him for a man who'd be a friendH
A mate a sticker to the very endH
-
-
He who can't comprehend this last remarkI
Is not worth one poor mongrel's joyous barkI
-
-
I left a dog up in the bush last weekJ
He was my one good pal who'd never seekJ
To take advantage of my frailtiesK
And heaven knows I have enough of theseK
He was my one good pal who trusted meL
And when the day of parting came why heL
-
-
Well maybe we had better draw the lineM
I get so sloppy o'er this frined of mineM
-
-
But when I saw that look come in his eyesF
Well you know what it is when your dog triesF
To tell you things Oh I think it's all rotN
To say a man could hate dogs He could notN
Men surely are superior Well thenO
Where could you find a dog who hates all menO
-
-
My brothers think this over and reflectP
E'en curs hold qualities we may respectP
