Country Doctors Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBADED AFAFGHAI AAJAAKLK AMNMAODO

The quiet country doctorsA
Of many a country townB
Whose lives are spent to service bentC
With scant hope of renownB
Those sturdy country doctorsA
That walk the healer's wayD
At beck and call of one and allE
That pain be smoothed awayD
-
Those patient country doctorsA
That journey day and nightF
By country roads to far abodesA
To ease some sufferer's plightF
Thro' fire and flood and tempestG
They make their pilgrimageH
To bring release and healing peaceA
The comforters of ageI
-
Those modern country doctorsA
They do not advertiseA
Surcease they bring for sufferingJ
And hope to pain filled eyesA
These be their ends to be man's friendsA
And so they shape and planK
Divorced from greed to serve man's needL
And give their lives to manK
-
Those quiet country doctorsA
Unsung unknown to fameM
Refusing none what may be doneN
In skilful healing's nameM
Philosophers friends mentorsA
Thro' pain and death and birthO
And who shall say that such as theyD
Are not salt of the earthO
