Corryong Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAABCC DEDDEFF GHGGHII JKJJKJJ

The cattle lands of CorryongA
The maiden of the snowsB
Where silver streams the winter longA
Sing pleasantly their tinkling songA
Not many a town man knowsB
And here sleek cattle deep in grassC
Watch placidly the seasons passC
-
Her beauty has a wondrous worthD
This maiden cleanly brightE
A beauty won from her rich earthD
Where the great Murray has his birthD
And gathers up his mightE
To scatter rich fertilityF
On his long journey to the seaF
-
Her face is laved in waters clearG
Snow waters dashing downH
That flash and hide and reappearG
To feed the pastures far and nearG
About this lovely townH
Fair Corryong the Cattle QueenI
Hiding her beauty here unseenI
-
A glory here the scene presentsJ
Glory that may not dieK
Where up from these green gleaming bentsJ
Great Kosciusko's battlementsJ
Lift to the laughing skyK
And Corryong contentment knowsJ
The joyous maiden of the snowsJ
