Camperdown Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDD EFGFHHII EJEJAAAA AKAKLLAA

The dignity of CamperdownA
Is not to be deniedB
Where Leura looks upon the townA
And that lush countrysideB
And comfortable stout and sleekC
She wears the air of one who'd seekC
To mind her manners rather muchD
And cultivate the English touchD
-
A haughty lady prone to rowE
Her eyebrows when the roadF
Brings in some traveller whose waysG
Tend to offend her codeF
The robust life of modern townsH
Suits ill her verdant dells and downsH
She is particular aloofI
As witness many a manor roofI
-
'Tis said that Leura long agoE
Belched flames up to the skyJ
And turbulently sought to throwE
Stones at the passers byJ
And her rich ashes raining downA
Bequeathed great wealth to CamperdownA
But turbulence in youth begunA
Is now taboo It 'isn't done'A
-
And Camperdown of gracious mienA
Brings joy to him who viewsK
The glamor of her peaceful sceneA
And placid avenuesK
A proper town that sets the paceL
And sets the scene for civic graceL
And will might many another townA
Adopt the air of CamperdownA
