Oh my brothers do not wrangle	A
When the sweets of office dangle	A
At a most inviting angle	A
Be polite	B
In the legislative struggle	A
When in office safe you snuggle	A
Then to jangle or to juggle	A
Isn't right	B

Though the vulgar people giggle	A
When they see a statesman wriggle	A
To a place	C
And I prithee never niggle	A
With the man who stops to peddle	A
For the act upon his head'll	A

What's the matter if the prospect isn't new	D
There is virtue in the viewing	E
When it comes to merely doing	E
Well it's really not important what you do	D
It's the view	D
Grand view	D
Never let the doing part embarrass you	D

When in politics you dabble	A
Then of course you'll have to babble	A
To the vote possessing rabble	A
'Tis the game	F
When you engineer a shuffle	A
The ensuing party scuffle	A
Somebody is sure to ruffl	A
All the same	F

Then be wary do not temble	A
Smile politely and dissemble	A
Though your actions do resemble	A
Somersaults	G
When your legislative symbol	A
Is the tricky pea and thimble	A
Your manipulations nimble	A

It is most entrancing when you have the screw	D
There's no need to be exacting	E
In the manner of your acting	E
'Tis the statesman's motto when dissensions brew	D
Watch the view	D

When a banquet you've to tackle	A
Where the ancient chestnuts crackle	A
And you have to rise and cackle	A

Mayhap some hiccoughing freak'll	A
Rise and venturing to speak 'll	A
Mention you as 'Misher Deakle	A

And defend the Fusion pickle	A
Show them that you are not fickle	A

Labor members is a puzzle	A
And they'll cheer you as they guzzle	A

When the Tory consequential	A

And they'll all begin to think they see it too	D

Budding statesmen there is muckle	A
In the View when you've to truckle	A
To the crowd that will not buckle	A
Into graft	I
When your policy's a muddle	A
And you're sailing in a puddle	A
With a Fusion crowd that huddle	A
On a raft	I
Talk in vague unmeaning jingle	A
For the crowd with which you mingle	A
Holds within it scarce a single	A
One who'll work	M
Here where HANSARD's pages rustle	A
Three a show of rush and bustle	A
But there's ne'er a chance to hustle	A
You must shirk	M
Keep your eye upon the broad strong view	D
Call the crowd's attention to it till you're blue	D
Keep them watching intently	A

Hate the fact that you hvae nothing much to do	D
Praise the view	D

And they may forget to keep an eye on you	D
