Bobbie Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEBFBFAF BGDGHBIBBBAJ DKHKLMAMHNAN

Gin you're gangin' doon the cityA
Come next Sabbath afternoonB
An' you'll catch a glimpse o' TartanC
An' you'll hear a skirlin' tuneB
An' you'll see a crowd o' laddiesD
Lookin' verra dour an' staidE
Wi' just here an' there a CairngornB
An' a wee tiny speck o' plaidF
Dinna think from their expressionB
They are on some mission sadF
For their thoughts are back wi' BobbieA
Wi' the braw brave ploughman ladF
-
Once again they'll see him treadin'B
Dreary eyed behind the ploughG
With his thoughts amonsgt the angelsD
And a brave light on his browG
Once again they'll see him sparkingH
By the burnside and the glenB
Wi' another sort of angelI
An' a sonsy lass ye kenB
Aye a thousand sober ScotsmenB
On the Sabbath afternoonB
Will be back again with BobbieA
With a graceless godlike gloomJ
-
But they'll not tell of his tailin'sD
He was human he was youngK
But they'll join him in his dreamingH
And the rare brave songs he sungK
Singing songs of bonny ScotlandL
That will never fade with timeM
Noble thoughts of truth and beautyA
That is genius put in rhymeM
And they'll love him for his dreamingH
Aye and for his failin's tooN
When their thoughts go back to BobbieA
Sweetest singer Scotland knewN
