Another Economic Riddle Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCBDEDDF GHIIHJKJJK ELMMLNONNO

I venerate economistsA
As very learned blokesB
But when in paradox they speakC
Their meaning oft I vainly seekC
Suspecting subtle jokesB
They say the whole world's down and outD
But here's what I can't seeE
If every land beyond all doubtD
In all the world is up the spoutD
Then who's the mortgageeF
-
Do we owe money in the moonG
Or some celestial landH
Or have we creditors in MarsI
Or other fixed and unfixed starsI
Who hold our notes of handH
If not why all the fuss and fretJ
I've conned it o'er and o'erK
And find no clear solution yetJ
If all the earth is deep in debtJ
Who is the creditorK
-
When men go into bankruptcyE
The case is plain as dayL
What is not in the dear wife's nameM
Grim creditors will promptly claimM
And assets melt awayL
But when a whole wide world's in soakN
And cannot raise the tinO
Here's where I half suspect a jokeN
When all the earth goes stoney brokeN
Who puts the bailiffs inO
