Accent Conscious Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDBEF GHCCHII JKLLK M NOLLOPP

Trouble brews along the border for the word has got aroundA
That blokes an' coves an' coots must mind their tonguesB
Out about the long dry stagesC
Where the willie willie ragesD
Strange sounds are issuing from leathern lungsB
Vowels consonants and diphthongs in the old bark hut take placeE
Of the talk of clips or cattle or 'wot won the 'urdle race 'F
-
For the world grows regimented and the olden orders passG
With those ancient heroes that we knew of oldH
Out beyond the sandy rangesC
Culture grows and fashion changesC
And a bloke has got to talk the way he's toldH
For the craze of 'standardising' has Australia in its gripI
And Lawson's friends Joe Wilson and his mates have got the pipI
-
These old battlers so accustomed to the old Australian drawlJ
Find it hard to knuckle down to modern waysK
Tho' the purists may deride themL
'Twas their speech identified themL
For they talked the Aussie lingo all their daysK
But the Man from Snowy River strives to change his 'Oi' to 'I '-
And Clancy of the Overflow now wears an old school tieM
-
I have long since sought the reason why all men should be as peasN
In speech in thought in action e'en in strifeO
Uniformity around themL
Serves but further to confound themL
Since it washes all the color out of lifeO
But the bloke who beat the favorite now sports jodhpurs with an airP
And the Man from Ironbark marcels his hairP
