A Dogs' View Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDF GHGHIJIJ KLKLMNM

I'm only just a common racing dogA
Simple in habit and my diet's plainB
I have never had a longing for the grogC
That some men seem to need more vim to gainB
And I have heard it said of such a oneD
Who in his swilling emulates the hogsE
'He's boozing day and night he's getting doneD
Poor man ' they say 'he's going to the dogs 'F
-
But now 'tis threatened that a dog should winG
A newer culture and a swifter paceH
By taking to the whisky and the ginG
That he may wax more reckless in the raceH
And we who hitherto have been contentI
With just a lap of water and a rubJ
Will soon enough contract that human bentI
Of knocking off and going to the pubJ
-
And then who knows Some badly balanced pupK
Weak willed and too intent on hectic joysL
Will learn too soon the way to liquor upK
And have a jolly evening with the boysL
And we shall say of such a one in blameM
'It's quite all right to have one new and thenN
But he has overdone this drinkning gameM
Poor dog ' we'll say 'He's going to the men '-
