Where is this stupendous strangerA
Swains of Solyma adviseB
Lead me to my Master's mangerA
Show me where my Saviour liesB
-
O Most Mighty O MOST HOLYC
Far beyond the seraph's thoughtD
Art thou then so mean and lowlyC
As unheeded prophets taughtD
-
O the magnitude of meeknessB
Worth from worth immortal sprungE
O the strength of infant weaknessB
If eternal is so youngE
-
If so young and thus eternalF
Michael tune the shepherd's reedG
Where the scenes are ever vernalF
And the loves be Love indeedG
-
See the God blasphem'd and doubtedH
In the schools of Greece and RomeI
See the pow'rs of darkness routedH
Taken at their utmost gloomJ
-
Nature's decorations glistenK
Far above their usual trimL
Birds on box and laurels listenK
As so near the cherubs hymnL
-
Boreas now no longer wintersB
On the desolated coastM
Oaks no more are riv'n in splintersB
By the whirlwind and his hostM
-
Spinks and ouzels sing sublimelyF
We too have a Saviour bornN
Whiter blossoms burst untimelyF
On the blest Mosaic thornN
-
God all bounteous all creativeO
Whom no ills from good dissuadeP
Is incarnate and a nativeO
Of the very world He madeP
