Mirth Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAB CDCCD EFEEF GHGGH IJIIJ

If you are merry sing awayA
And touch the organs sweetB
This is the Lord's triumphant dayA
Ye children in the gall'ries gayA
Shout from each goodly seatB
-
It shall be May to morrow's mornC
A field then let us runD
And deck us in the blooming thornC
Soon as the cock begins to warnC
And long before the sunD
-
I give the praise to Christ aloneE
My pinks already showF
And my streak'd roses fully blownE
The sweetness of the Lord make knownE
And to His glory growF
-
Ye little prattlers that repairG
For cowslips in the meadH
Of those exulting colts bewareG
But blythe security is thereG
Where skipping lambkins feedH
-
With white and crimson laughs the skyI
With birds the hedge rows ringJ
To give the praise to God most highI
And all the sulky fiends defyI
Is a most joyful thingJ
