The lantern the lightA
I keep you on to light my pathB
The darkness it spitesC
I hear mockery in the blackD
But your light gives me sightA
And the world goes to the backD
-
The lantern the lightA
My early morning delightA
I keep you elevatedE
Please shine above my headF
Not for anything of mineG
But your light to spreadF
-
The lantern the lightA
I wait with you for the comingH
You ve become my companionI
The truth of why I m livingH
Speak and I ll listenI
Speak to keep me breathingH

Poet's note: This is a gospel poem of what the word of God and Holy Spirit is to me. How he’s more than just a book or feeling, but also a light necessary for seeing.
