The Lantern, The Light

The lantern, the light
I keep you on to light my path
The darkness, it spites
I hear mockery in the black
But your light gives me sight
And the world goes to the back

The lantern, the light
My early morning delight
I keep you elevated
Please, shine above my head
Not for anything of mine
But your light to spread

The lantern, the light
I wait with you for the coming
You’ve become my companion
The truth of why I’m living
Speak and I’ll listen
Speak to keep me breathing

Poet's note: This is a gospel poem of what the word of God and Holy Spirit is to me. How he’s more than just a book or feeling, but also a light necessary for seeing.
