To The Fountain Of Bandusia. - Translations From Horace Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BBCC DDEE FFGG EEHI

OD iiiA
-
-
Bandusia stainless mirror of the skyB
Thine is the flower crown'd bowl for thee shall dieB
When dawns again yon sun the kidC
Whose budding horns half seen half hidC
-
Challenge to dalliance or to strife in vainD
Soon must the hope of the wild herd be slainD
And those cold springs of thineE
With blood incarnadineE
-
Fierce glows the Dog star but his fiery beamF
Toucheth not thee still grateful thy cool streamF
To labour wearied oxG
Or wanderer from the flocksG
-
And henceforth thou shalt be a royal fountainE
My harp shall tell how from yon cavernous mountainE
Topt by the brown oak treeH
Thou breakest babblinglyI
