The Two Ships Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCBCB DBDBEBEBAs I stand by the cross on the lone mountain's crest | A |
Looking over the ultimate sea | B |
In the gloom of the mountain a ship lies at rest | A |
And one sails away from the lea | B |
One spreads its white wings on a far reaching track | C |
With pennant and sheet flowing free | B |
One hides in the shadow with sails laid aback | C |
The ship that is waiting for me | B |
- | |
But lo in the distance the clouds break away | D |
The Gate's glowing portals I see | B |
And I hear from the outgoing ship in the bay | D |
The song of the sailors in glee | B |
So I think of the luminous footprints that bore | E |
The comfort o'er dark Galilee | B |
And wait for the signal to go to the shore | E |
To the ship that is waiting for me | B |
