At Rainbow Lake Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCD EFEFGG HIHIJJ KIKILL MNMOPP QRQRSS TITIUU

There is a spot far from the world's uproarA
Amid great mountainsB
Where softly sleeps a lake to whose still shoreA
Steal silvery fountainsB
That hide beneath the leafy underwoodC
And blend their voices with the solitudeD
-
Save where the beaver meadow's olive sheenE
In sunlight glimmersF
On every side a mass of waving greenE
The forest shimmersF
And oft re echoes with the black bear's treadG
That silences the song birds overheadG
-
Here thickly droops the moss from patriarch treesH
And loons fly wailingI
Here king birds' screams come hoarsely down the breezeH
And hawks are sailingI
Above the trees Here Nature dwells aloneJ
Of man unknowing and to man unknownJ
-
Smiling she rises when the morning airK
The dawn just breakingI
Bids the still woodlands for the day prepareK
And Life awakingI
Welcomes the Sun whose bride the Morn is kissedL
And blushing lays aside her veil of mistL
-
Here Nature with each passing hour revealsM
Peculiar gracesN
At noonday she grows languid and then stealsM
To shady placesO
And revels in their coolness at her feetP
A stream that fills with music her retreatP
-
At eve she comes and blushing like a maidQ
Unrobes in shadowsR
Bathes in the lake and wanders through the gladeQ
And o'er the meadowsR
From her dank locks wherever she doth passS
The diamond dew drops dripping to the grassS
-
And then she sleeps when o'er the lake's calm tideT
The Moon comes stealingI
And draws from her the veil of night asideT
Her charms revealingI
While silent stars keep ceaseless watch aboveU
And all the earth breathes peace and rest and loveU
