A Mother's Jewels Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGF HIHI

The daughter of a hundred earlsA
No jewels has with mine to mateB
Though she may wear in flawless pearlsA
The ransom of a mighty stateB
-
Hers glitter for the world to seeC
But chill the breast where they reclineD
My jewels warmly compass meC
And all their brilliancy is mineD
-
My diamonds are my baby's eyesE
His lips sole rubies that I craveF
They came to me from ParadiseG
And not through labors of the slaveF
-
My darling's arms my necklace makeH
'Tis Love that links his feeble handsI
And Death alone that chain can breakH
And rob me of those priceless bandsI
