The seasons run like some great stream | E |
That to the ocean flows | F |
The waves that here in sunshine gleam | E |
Bound there in mountain snows | F |

And as where darkling waters steal | G |
Drear walls of rock between | H |
Yet in their depths a gem reveal | G |
That glows with sunny sheen | H |

So in this blustering month that bears | I |
The banner of the year | J |
Such days as this with balmy airs | I |
Amid the storms appear | J |

It is but meet that thy birthday | B |
Should open bright and warm | K |
And into darkness fade away | B |
