A Birthday Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGFG HIHI FJFJ KLKL IMNM

Fifteen years have come and goneA
Maiden since thy large brown eyesB
Opened first and looked uponC
Wintry English skiesB
-
Fifteen treasure ships they wereD
Sailing on life's sunlit seaE
Bearing frankincense and myrrhD
Sent from heaven to theeE
-
Fifteen pilgrims old and grayF
Mounted upon moments fleetG
Who have seen thee but to layF
Pleasure at thy feetG
-
Fifteen maids who like a queenH
Decked thee Sweet with beauty rareI
Till the world hath never seenH
Maiden half so fairI
-
And a sixteenth year to dayF
Brings a wreath of budding hoursJ
Saying Let not one decayF
All must grow to flowersJ
-
All have not the self same needsK
Loving smiles are life to someL
Others but by kindly deedsK
To perfection comeL
-
Some are quickened by a tearI
Some by hopes and pleasures deadM
Take them Bright Eyes without fearN
God is overheadM
