Lay Your Bed Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBC DEEF GHIH JKEG

Its an old quote my aunty used to tell meA
Anytime I swing the crocodile's tailB
Anytime I spin the hammer and nailB
As you lay your bed so you layC
-
It never drowned to the root of my mindD
'Til I read it on a gravestoneE
On my way to Damascus to claim my throneE
As your bed is laid so you rest in peaceF
-
I have lizards in my bedG
My bed of roses my bed of reptilesH
I've n'er seen it with the left eyeI
Its true there is no peace in a bed with reptilesH
-
The same quote I tell my brethrenJ
Anytime they smoosh the snake skinK
I hope you'll see it on a gravestoneE
You'll lay as you lay your bedG
