To A Nun Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEEEEFFGGHIJKLLMM

Please God forsake your water and dry breadA
And fling the bitter cress you eat asideB
Put by your rosary In Mary's name leave chanting creedsC
To mildewing monks in RomeD
Spring's at work in gardens bright with sunE
Springtime's not made for living like a nunE
Your faith my fairest lady your religionE
Shows but a single face of love's medallionE
Slip on this ring and this green gown these lacesF
The wood is furnitured with resting placesF
Hide in the birch tree's shade upon your kneesG
Murmur the mass of cuckoos litaniesG
Of spring's green foliage There's no sacrilegeH
If we find heaven here against the hedgeI
Remember Ovid's book and Ovid's truthJ
There's such a thing as having too much faithK
Let us discover the shapes the earthly signsL
Of our true selves our souls among the vinesL
For surely God and all his saints aboveM
High in their other heaven pardon loveM
